The Ant and the Grasshopper

The ANT AND THE GRASSHOPPER

This one is a little different ...

Two Different Versions ...

Two Different Morals

OLD VERSION

The ant works
hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper
thinks the
ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the ant is warm
and well fed.

The grasshopper has
no food or shelter, so he
dies out in the cold.

MORAL OF THE OLD STORY:

Be responsible for yourself!

MODERN

VERSION

The ant works hard
in the withering heat and the rain all summer long, building his house
and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant
is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering grasshopper
calls a press conference and demands to know why the
ant should be
allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving..

CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN,

and ABC show up to
provide pictures of the shivering
grasshopper
next to a video of the
ant
in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.

America is stunned by the sharp contrast.

How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper
is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears
on
Oprah
with the
grasshopper
and everybody cries when they sing, 'It's Not Easy Being Green'

Occupy the Anthill stages
a demonstration in front of the
ant's house where the news stations film the

Black Lives Matter group singingWe shall overcome.

Then Reverend Al Sharpton
has the group kneel down to pray for the
grasshopper
while he damns the ants. He later appears on MSNBC to complain that rich people do not care.

Former President Obama condemns the ant
and blames

Donald Trump, President Bush 43, President Bush 41, President Reagan, Christopher Columbus, and the

Pope
for the
grasshopper's
plight.

Nancy Pelosi & Chuck Schumer

exclaim in an interview on The View
that the
ant has
gotten rich off the back of the

grasshopper
and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, the EEOC drafts

the Economic Equity &

Anti-Grasshopper Act
retroactive to the beginning of
the summer.

The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number
of
green bugs and,
having; nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the

Government Green Czar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and given to the grasshopper.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper
and his free-loading friends finishing up the last bits of the
ant's food while the government house he is in,

which, as you recall, just happens to be the ant's old house,
crumbles around them because the
grasshopper doesn't maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again.

The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken
over by a gang of
spiders who terrorize the ramshackle, once prosperous and peaceful, neighborhood.

The entire Nation collapses
bringing the rest
of the free world with it.

MORAL OF THE STORY:

Be careful how you vote in 2020.

Being a better you.

Howdy Doody sez...

Begin your day by choosing to be a Better You.

Choose to be ENERGETIC—instead of permitting yourself to become run-down and burned-out.

Choose to be PASSIONATE—instead of permitting yourself to become apathetic and indifferent.

Choose to be ENTHUSIASTIC—instead of permitting yourself to become half-hearted and discouraged.

Choose to be SELF-DIRECTED—instead of permitting yourself to become directionless and
uncertain.

Choose to be PREPARED—instead of permitting yourself to become shortsighted and reactive.

Choose to be FOCUSED—instead of permitting yourself to become scattered and impulsive.

Choose to be SUPPORTIVE—instead of permitting yourself to become critical and judgmental.

Choose to be SYSTEMATIC—instead of permitting yourself to become haphazard and disorganized.

Choose to be TIMELY—instead of permitting yourself to become distracted and preoccupied.

Choose to be PROACTIVE—instead of permitting yourself to become procrastinating and hesitant.

SMILE... SMILE... SMILE...

When Was The Last Time You Had Any Fun? One great way to cultivate an energetic attitude is to be sure you enjoy what you do. Look for things that are fun to do, and find new ways to have fun at what you're already doing.
Smile and laugh as much as possible. Instead of lunch, why not go to recess?

"An optimist may see a light where there is none, but why must the pessimist always run to blow it out?"

The Human Mind. What a force!

Revisiting some of Dr. Napoleon Hill's teachings. Gr8 stuff for mind meditation.
Make a minute to think about Dr. Hill's words.
Napoleon Hill

Dr. Hill states:
Strange and imponderable, indeed, are the powers of the human mind.

The only provable fact one may know concerning the power of the mind is that each individual mind is but a tiny projection of Infinite Intelligence, whose source is the great reservoir of Intelligence that keeps the stars and planets afloat in space, in their accustomed places, and binds together the infinitesimal portions of the atoms of matter.

The main principle taught by Hill is that whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve, regardless of how many times you may have failed in the past, or how lofty your aims and hopes may be. You do this by learning to control and direct your mind.

A friend...
Andrew Carnegie a friend of Hill explained that everyone is born with the equivalent of two sealed envelopes, each of which is labeled as follows:

  1. “The Riches You May Enjoy If You Take Possession of Your Own Mind and Direct It to Ends of Your Own Choice”
  2. “The Penalties You Must Pay If You Neglect to Take Possession of Your Mind and Direct It”
The envelope labeled “Riches” contains this list of blessings if you take possession of your mind and direct it toward achieving your goals:
Sound health.
Peace of mind.
A labor of love of your own choice.
Freedom from fear and worry.
A positive mental attitude.
Material riches of your own choice and quantity.

The envelope labeled “Penalties” contains this list of the prices one must pay for neglecting to take possession of one’s own mind:

Ill health.
Fear and worry.
Indecision and doubt.
Frustration and discouragement throughout life.
Poverty and want.
And a whole flock of evils consisting of envy, greed, jealousy, anger, hatred and superstition.

What you think?
Believe it and you will see it, says Dr Wayne Dyer!!!!!

Psychoneuroimmunology

Go for it -  Read on!

Beyond Positive Thinking

By Arnold Fox, M. D. & Barry Fox, Ph.D.
Beyond Positive Thinking
Doctors cannot cure 90% of our ailments, for these are problems of "thought disease," of psychoneuroimmunology, problems that begin with our negative thoughts and negative actions. The cure is to give ourselves a spiritual tune-up. Like any other engine, the human engine must be kept running smooth. How do we do this? With good eating, good exercise, good living and good thinking.
We must replace every weak thought with a strong every negative thought with a positive one, every hateful thoughts with a loving one, and every sad thought with a joyful one.
Are our thoughts so important? Well, our thoughts become our words, our-words become our actions, our actions become our habits and our habits become our character. From thoughts to character, from thoughts to biochemistry, from thoughts to health or disease, the pathway is clear.
Marcus Aurelius wrote: "A man's life is what his thoughts make of it."
Napoleon Hill summed it up when he said: "Anything the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve."

You can't do everything. But you can do something.

How Much Octane Do You Require?
What's the best breakfast for you? How do you know? Have you experimented to find out if you should eat more or less protein, fat, complex carbohydrates or sugar before going to work? Experiment for peak performance and find out what works best for you.

Some questions for you...
What did you have for breakfast this morning?
How much energy do you have right now?

Thinking Thoughts

That means you!
                    THINK.
Fewer things possess more Power than
a Thought.
Because a Thought has the potential
to become something significant.
To solve something meaningful.
And to inspire us to achieve great things.

What makes a Thought so powerful
is that it can be created by anybody.
At anytime.
From anywhere.

That's why Thinking should be encouraged
and nurtured in all its forms.
No mater how small.
Or how impossibly grand.

Because wherever Thinking happens,
Big ideas follow.
Minds become enlightened.
Knowledge grows.
And people discover new ways to unlock their
Potential.

So start Thinking.

Think about it.

Actual J4 writes...

You can change the world.

It's simple and anyone can do it.

Love = Peace

It's a simple formula and is not reversible. Peace does not necessarily equal Love but Love will equal and achieve Peace. One thing leads to the other through the cause and effect principle.

Many people have forgotten that the foundation and core of every major religion is to Love your neighbor as you would want your neighbor to Love you. This is stated in all major religions in different forms but is the basis for each major religion.

There needs to be a shift in the worlds consciousness to Love. This could take place with Gods help all at once one day but more likely and realistically will take place over a period of time. The way to achieve this shift is to teach our children from a very young age not only religion but the basis for that religion. Love and to Love ones fellow man as one would want to be loved. These children will continue to teach their children and so on through generations and the Love will change the world to a peaceful one. Sounds too simple but it will work over time.

There may be many religions but all don't seem to realize that they are worshiping one God. If God is infinite then there can be only one infinite. As any philosopher, mathematician and even many theologians would tell you, you can't have anymore than one infinite, it is a logical impossibility. If God is omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient how could there be more than one God competing in all these areas. Only one God could achieve this. Two or more would not work. One God and one principle from that God for all in all religions. Love and Love of your fellow man as you would want to be loved.

Unfortunately war must sometimes be waged to achieve and bring about Peace. Had we not all waged war against Hitler and won we would be living in a much less peaceful world today. War was necessary to achieve Peace. In today's world we face a threat to Peace from religious radicals who have warped their religious views into violence and hatred and forgotten the Love that founded and is the basis for all religions threatening the Peace and security of the world. Unfortunately war it seems must once again be waged to achieve Peace. Lack of Love is the enemy of Peace.

Love is like a rose without thorns. Through Love we can remove some or all of the thorns and achieve Peace.

You may say It sounds like it's all too simple and the truth is that It is. It's just that simple. Teach and practice Love and Love of your neighbor and eventually over time the world will have Peace on Earth.

You can change the world.

Business Planning for 2010?

Laura Posey,
Vice President and Co-Founder of Dancing Elephants Achievement Group writes...

Should You Spend Time This Year On A Plan?

That seems like a silly question perhaps, but so many business people don’t bother really planning their year (much less their entire business) that I have to ask.

Here a few of my best reasons to make time in the next two weeks to get a plan done.

Focus Changes Everything
Having a plan forces you to decide where to focus your time, energy and money in the coming year. Focus is the force that drives all things to greater power and success. An unfocused stream of light creates a gentle illumination while a focused stream creates a laser beam capable of cutting through any obstacle. An unfocused team of rowers wanders around the water, while a focused team can conquer any ocean.

Writing Goals Down Changes Your Brain
For years, scientists have known that the act of writing things down changes the way they are stored in your brain. That’s why you had to spend so much time in school writing out your multiplication tables, etc. Writing your plan plants seeds in your subconscious that can dramatically increase your likelihood of achieving. Even if you fall short of your ultimate goals, you’ll likely far exceed what you would have accomplished had you not bothered to plan.

Planning Doesn’t Have To Be Hard
When I ask people why they don’t have a plan, many tell me they don’t have time to write a huge plan and, even if they did, they probably wouldn’t use it anyway. It is just to easy to go back to winging it as real life deviates from what you planned. Proper planning doesn’t have to take tons of time or result in the death of a hundred trees. You can create a complete annual plan in just 20 minutes and use only one sheet of paper. Best of all, the plan you create will be flexible enough to accommodate changes in the economy and your business as the year progresses. A plan shouldn’t be a prison but rather guardrails on the highway to your goals.

Interesting stuff to ponder.

Dysfunction In The Workplace?

Roxanne Emmerich, author of the best seller Thank God It’s Monday , just reported the latest research about dysfunction in the workplace.

1. Over 91% of people spend a huge chunk of their day frustrated by their coworkers’ dysfunctional behavior and think regularly about quitting their job.
2. Managers waste about 37% or more of their day dealing with dysfunctional behavior.
3. One out of every three payroll dollars is lost for good due to disengaged employees.
Makes you stop and think about how successful we could all be if we replaced dysfunctional behaviors with passion and creativity.

Is God Inside The Brain Or Outside?

Barbara Bradley Hagerty, religious correspondent for NPR, recently wrote about a woman who had brain surgery. Besides being under during the surgery, all the blood was drained from her brain in order to do the procedure. When she was conscious again, she was able to describe the operating theatre, who was there, the surgical tools that were used and even the exact conversations between the staff.

All of this raises questions as to whether consciousness is inside the brain or is it somehow being transmitted to us. Are we similar to a radio receiver tuning in to the signals being sent to us?
(Reported USA Today June 22, 2009)
A quote from Anonymous.
"Our lives are not determined by what happens to us but by how we react to what happens, Not by what life brings to us, but by the attitude we bring to life. A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events, and outcomes. It is a catalyst, a spark that creates extraordinary results.”
What say you?

Listening better

I never learned much in school about being a good listener. And yet , I have to practice it all the time as a personal development and business coach.

Here's what I do...

First, I put up my ears, then I put my tongue between my teeth and do what Andrew Weiss advises for deep listneing:

Be present. Give the other person your complete attention Be aware of what is happening inside you.

• Be open. Put aside all your assumptions about who this person is and try to listen to who they are right now. Ask questions that convey your deep concern.

• Stay aware of your emotions. Notice what happens to you when you are hearing something you find difficult or painful. Often someone's issues will deeply touch our own. We need to recognize those feelings, breathe deeply, and release those feelings in order to continue listening with attention.

• Make space. If emotions run too high, ask for a short break. This may be painful for the other person, but tell them you will be a better listener if you take some time to let your own emotions drain out and do something to feed your compassion and love.

Listen first and talk second is good for relationhips.

And that's no nonsense...

Make lots of gr8 days.

On Being Positive...

Why is a positive and proactive attitude so important? Because it actually changes our physiology... causing our bodies to heal themselves!

What’ca think?

A recent article entitled "Mind Over Matter” appearing in a publication called "Health Features" reported…

"Positive thoughts can be as effective as drugs in beating diseases. Studies show preventive medicine may soon be more than just monitoring your vegetable intake and exercise levels, and include how many negative thoughts go through your head in a day.

There is a growing body of evidence to suggest that a patient's beliefs and hopes affect their prognosis.

One of the major contributors to maintaining health and removing disease is the attitude of the patient, says Professor Oakley Ray, a psychologist from Vanderbilt University in Tennessee.

He reviewed one hundred years of research on psychology and disease for a paper published in American Psychiatrist and concluded that WORDS can have the same effect as DRUGS; thinking optimistically can change your whole biology.

Ray quotes a wide range of evidence including various studies linking mind set to heart disease. One such study from the Harvard School of Public Health established that optimism lowers the risk of heart disease in older men while pessimism and hopelessness increase it. There is strong evidence that patients with heart disease who feel hopeless about their condition do worse.”

It has always appeared to me that people with a positive attitude (and equally positive self-talk) were significantly more successful, well-balanced and effective than people who go through life with a negative, self-defeating attitude.

The bottom line is, while positive WORDS may not be a miracle drug... what if they are and you refuse to accept the miracle?!!!

If for no other reason, find a way to inject POSITIVE words into your life each day, and maybe MIRACLES will find there way into your life as well!

Go Miracles!

Miracles - Anyone?

You don't need an explanation for everything.

Recognize that there are such things as miracles, events for which there are no explanations. Later, knowledge may explain those events away.

The fact that you plant a seed and it becomes a flower, share a bit of knowledge and it becomes another's, smile at someone and receive a smile in return are common miracles.

Your duty to yourself is to believe that for which you have sufficient evidence, and to suspend your judgement when you have not.

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. Some things have to be believed to be seen. Vision is the art of seeing invisible things.

The voice in your head.

Do you talk to yourself?

Did you know the human brain averages 65,000 thoughts a day.

And most people have the same 65,000 thoughts the next day. Here's something else to chew on. Brain scientists determined there is a portion of our brain called the "Reticular Activating System". It's a fancy term for software in our head which focuses our attention on what you ask it to.

Example: Quickly look around you and count how many blue objects you can see. Without looking again tell me...how many red objects did you see? My guess is you counted the blue...and you drew a blank with the reds.

This is an experiment that helps prove if someone is focused on failure...the brain starts showing them more failure. So if people aren't changing their thoughts...their brain is pulling them towards the same thing day in and day out. A big success secret is learning how to control your thoughts.

Manage the little voice in your head with positives.

Cooperate to compete, or struggle easier

People are strange. We dominate the planet mainly because of our ability to work together and yet we compete with each other like crazy.

Our ability for premeditated team work has enabled us to expand our horizons beyond our wildest dreams. And as our reality has expanded to match our dreams we have increased our need to know where we fit in the scheme of things.

Here’s the really strange bit. Our sense of self-worth is mostly based on comparison with others. In other words, I measure myself against my neighbors and colleagues.

Sadly, what this often comes down to is that my success depends on your 'un-success'.

Here’s the real paradox: ‘I win if you lose’ but ‘we survive if we work together’.

We have survived and thrived as a species because we tend to resolve this paradox by finding meaning beyond the expense of our neighbors and colleagues. Please remember this as you compete your way out of this recession.

And while you’re cooperating to compete like crazy, remember this other bit of crazy. We don’t mind so much if bad things happen to us as long as the bad things happen to all of us.

You don’t believe me? Look around. Considering all the bad things happening at the moment, how many really unhappy faces do you see? How unhappy are you, really?

But if you were the only one struggling financially, the only one without a job, how would you feel?

Unfortunately, the opposite also happens. When others are successful, and we are not, we become resentful. Like lobsters. A man asked a fisherman carrying a bucket of lobsters, “Won’t the lobsters climb out?” “No”, replied the fisherman, “When one gets near the top, the others pull him back down.”

So be suspicious when politicians, or anyone else for that matter, tell you that ‘we’re all in this together’.

What if they’re wrong? I mean, what if there is an easier way to struggle?

Many of us were taught that life is a struggle. We heard adults say silly things like ‘no pain, no gain’ and ‘if at first you don’t succeed, try and try again’.

You might be older now, but are you any wiser? Look around you. Nature has many examples showing the success of the easy way. Like rivers. Rivers don’t struggle to reach the sea, they simply find the easiest downward path, even if it means going in the ‘wrong’ direction now and then.

If at first you don’t succeed, don’t try and try again. Fail if you must, then try something else. Even if you must go in what seems to be the wrong direction for a time.

Above all, don’t program your mind with those silly sayings every time your success isn’t immediate. Do what nature does - if at first you don’t succeed, try something easier.

And if the thought of doing that swamps you with guilt? Then don’t go for ‘easy’. Go for ‘different’.

Universal Laws

Where are you in this world of hard times and recession? Take a look at these seven laws of the Universe and know "this too will pass".

1. The Law of Gender:
Every “seed” has a gestation period. Ideas are spiritual seeds and will move into form or physical results. Believe this and watch your life change. Your goals will manifest in the perfect time. Know they will.

2. The Law of Cause and Effect:
What goes around, comes around. Whatever you send out into the universe comes back. Like causes produces like effects. Never worry about what you are going to get, concentrate on what you can give. Treat everyone with total respect. If you squeeze an orange you will get orange juice. Like causes always produce like effects.
Italic
3. The Law Of Relativity:
Nothing is good or bad, but thinking makes it so. Practice relating your situation to something worse and yours will always look good. If you practice relating your situation to something better, yours will always look worse. Nothing is good or bad until you relate it to something.

4. The Law Of Perpetual Transmutation:
Energy moves into physical form. The image you hold in your mind most often, materializes in results in your life. What are you imagining? This is an actual law of the universe. Use it to your advantage.

5. The Law Of Polarity:
Everything has an opposite, Constantly look at the good in people and situations. Good ideas equals good vibrations! Always recognize the opposite, then pick what you want to concentrate on, remembering law #4.

6. The Law Of Vibration:
Everything vibrates, nothing rests. Conscious awareness of vibration is feeling. How do you feel? Your thoughts control your paradigms and your vibrations. When you are not feeling good, become aware of what you are thinking, then think of something pleasant. Remember again, law #4.

7. The Law Of Rhythm:
This too shall pass. Some of the things the Law of Rhythm affects is the tide that goes out and comes back -- night follows day -- there is good in everything and there is bad. Don't feel the bad in the downswing without realizing that good times are coming. Remember again, law #4.

Read and study these seven Universal Laws.

It's up to me in 2009

Q ...
In 2009 -
Do you want to be more successful?
Do you want to have more fun and love?
Do you want to make more money?
A ...
If you want to change or improve anything in your life, you must begin by changing the inner aspects of your mind.

Most people think that the problems in their lives are caused by other people and external circumstances. They are shocked and angered to be told that they are the primary architects of everything that happens to them.

They want others to change. They want the world to change. But they do not want to change themselves.

You can control only one thing in the world, and that is the way you think. However, when you take complete control over your thinking, you take control over all the other aspects of your life.

By thinking and talking only about what you want, and by refusing to think or talk about what you don't want, you can design your future success.

If you change the quality of your thinking, you change the quality of your life. The only way to improve the quality of your life is to transform the quality of your perceptions.

Are you (no)where or are you (now)here?

Since there is no limit to how much better you can think, there is no real limit to how much better your life can be.

"If it's to be, it's up to me!
To be more successful.
To have more fun and love in my life.
To make more money."

Thanksgiving before Expectations

My professorial looking friend James Henry McIntosh, consultant, speaker, coach and writer, has allowed me to post the following article during this Thanksgiving week. (A thanks gift.)
Look further at his volume of outstanding work at http://www.nonsenseatwork.com/.

Thanksgiving before expectations.

This week we enter the period of gratitude and then we jump straight into the period of great expectations.

Actually, this is the correct order of things. Gratitude first, then expectation.

A common mistake we make is to withhold gratitude until we have received. In other words, until we can judge whether what we have received is worthy of our gratitude.

Imagine being served by a waitress who treats you poorly because she doesn’t know whether your gratuity will be worthy of better service. Or by a salesman who is aloof because he does not yet know how much you plan to spend.

Successful businesses don’t treat customers that way. They do two things differently. They are pleased to serve you before they expect you to reach for your wallet.

And their understanding of the word ‘expectation’ is different. They ‘look forward to’ you reaching for your wallet; they don’t act as if ‘it is their due’.
